jodie’s essential beliefs

The connection between client and therapist is the most important aspect of therapy.

You are the expert on your life.

Humans will go to great lengths to gain a sense of safety and security in our important relationships.

The coping strategies we learn through neglect, trauma, long-term stress, and other situations where our basic needs aren't met can be over-applied and get in our way when used past their expiration date.

Theories and models that inform my work include:

  • Attachment Theory

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

  • Internal Family Systems

  • Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy

  • Structural Family Therapy

Outside the Office

I am a step-parent, cat parent, an avid snowmobiler, recycler, seed-saver and gardener.

My favourite sound is a jar lid sealing.

I love talking about small business start-up and ownership and I spend my dollars as close to home as possible.

Eloping (to Maui!) was one of the best decisions of my life! #iregretnothing
