We accept cash, e-transfers, cheques, and credit cards. If you're paying by e-transfer, we ask that you do so immediately before your appointment.
The fee for a one hour appointment is $100 plus GST. Sessions with Jodie Voth are $125 plus GST. Payment is taken at the end of each session. Though most sessions are scheduled for an hour, we may agree to additional time which would then be charged at the hourly rate. A session generally includes 5-10 minutes at the end of the hour for administrative tasks such as scheduling the next appointment, making payment, and updating your file.
Receipts are provided by email after payment is received. Please let us know if you are planning to claim your sessions under your Extended Health Benefit plan -- it is your responsibility to confirm that your plan will cover the services of a Marriage and Family Therapist. Manitoba Health does not cover the cost of therapy/counselling.
The number one question we're asked: "Will my insurance cover the cost of therapy?"
Before we can answer this question, it's important to know the difference between the two types of insurance coverage for therapy: an Employee Assistance Plan (EAP) or an Extended Health Benefit (EHB).
An EAP is a benefit that your employer pays for. It covers you for counselling services provided by a therapist that is within the EAP's network or "on their list". There are several insurance companies that provide EAP benefits, so your coverage or the therapists you can access might be different than your friend's for example, depending on where you work. Each EAP plan will cover a specific number of sessions; they are always "short term". This means you only get a set amount of sessions and usually the insurance company's policy states you can't pay for more, even if you want to continue seeing your therapist.
An EHB is a benefit that you pay all or part of the premiums for. EHB benefits usually include things like dental, massage, prescription, travel health and counselling. As with other EHB benefits, the counselling covered by this plan is usually defined by a specific dollar amount per year and requires you to see a professional with a specific designation. Common professional designations that EHB benefits cover for counselling include Clinical Psychologists, Social Workers, Psychotherapists, and Marriage & Family Therapists. Every therapist at VFT is a Marriage & Family Therapist, and it is important to note that this designation is not the same as any of the others. So if your plan says "Clinical Psychologist", we will not be covered. All EHB benefits require you to pay your therapist at each appointment, submit your receipts and receive reimbursement for your session fee from the insurance company. Seeing a therapist under your EHB means you can attend as many sessions as you wish, but you will only be reimbursed by your insurance company up to the maximum dollar amount allowed per year on your plan.
If you don't have insurance or your policy won't cover a therapist at VFT, we would be happy to talk to you about setting up a schedule for your appointments that makes the investment of therapy affordable. If you aren't sure about your coverage or would like to advocate for the services of your preferred therapist to be included in your coverage, we encourage you to speak to the person responsible for your benefits at your place of employment.
Manitoba Health does not cover the cost of therapy/counselling. Marriage & Family Therapists are not covered by First Nations and Inuit Health.
An appointment is a time that is held just for you. It is expected that appointments will be cancelled or rescheduled with 24 hours’ notice. The full fee is charged for a missed or cancelled appointment with less than 24 hours' notice.
